Mildred quarterback Nic Shimonek will close out his high school career July 30 in Fort Worth, when he will represent the North team in the Texas High School Coaches Association’s 79th annual all-star game.
Shimonek, the 2012 Del Thrash Golden Circle Football Player of the Year, is one of four quarterbacks on the roster.
Navarro College has two signees scheduled to participate for the North. Daingerfield running back Edwin Mims and Little Elm running back Ke’aun Kinner are on the North squad.
The game, presented by Fuddruckers, is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff at TCU’s Amon Carter Stadium. The 69th annual basketball all-star game is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 29 at TCU’s Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
Shimonek, who signed with Iowa in February, led the Eagles to the Class 2A DII state finals in the fall, and ended his career with 34 wins, 8,215 yards and 99 touchdown passes.
