GC Tennis: Corsicana rolls past Nacogdoches, 14-1

Corsicana — Corsicana's tennis team had no trouble beating Nacogdoches,14-1, on Tuesday.

Coach Chad White’s team dominated on the  court Tuesday in singles and doubles matches. Coach White stated, “This was a big win for us today, we knew coming in we would have to compete in order to have a convincing win like this.”

Coach White said that his Tiger tennis team jumped out to a big lead and never looked back.

Corsicana boy’s singles winners were Jonathan Caston, Ben Crocker, and Brandon Levenson. The girls winners were Caroline Kennemore, Melany Bettencourt, and Cecilia Hernandez.

In doubles action in boys, Castan and Crocker teamed up for wins of 6-4, and 6-3 in No. 1 doubles, followed by Schultz and Levenson’s 6-3, and 6-1 wins. Castillo and Barrera also notched wins for the boys doubles teams.

In the girl’s doubles it was Phinney and Kinnemore taking a decisive 6-0, 6-3 win with Michelle Cho and Bettencourt taking their matches 6-4, 6-4. Also rounding out the win column for the girls were Helen Hibbs and Hernandez 6-3, and 6-2 in dominating fashion.
