Freshman Brooke Quinn won the girls cross country individual title and helped lead Kerens to a fourth place finish in the District19-1A cross country meet. The Lady Cats finished just two points shy of third place. The top 10 girls and the top three teams advance to the regionals in Humble on Nov. 2.
Quinn beat the field in the girls two-mile race, winning with a time of 14:15. She will compete for a chance to go to the state meet as an individual. The top 10 runners at the region meet advance to the state championship meet.
The Kerens girls team is made up of all freshmen and consists of Quinn, Caroline Kamp, Miracle Hall, Destiny Page, Kayliegh Avants, and Astria Grant.
Lapoynor won the meet with 55 points. Beckville was second (69), Martins Mill was third (78), and Kerens was fourth (90). Harleton (91), and Wortham (100) rounded out the field.
