GC Hoops Roundup: Steels scores 23 for Polar Bears in 43-23 win

Kerens boys bounce back, beat Rio Vista 80-55

— Danial Steels scored 23 points as Frost opened up district play with 43-23 victory over Coolidge on Tuesday night.

Kerens 80, Rio Vista 55: Tobyus Thomas had 16 points and Kevin Townsel added 15 as Kerens rolled past Rio Vista 80-55 to push its record back over .500 at 6-5.

Buffalo 85, Rice 81 (OT): Dalton Pike scored 35 points and Ragan Henderson had 24 points, but Rice fell in overtime 85-81 to Buffalo in a 23-2A thriller on Tuesday night.

GIRLS

Mildred 53, Riesel 35:
The Mildred Lady Eagles defeated the Riesel Lady Indians 53-35 to improve to 2-0 in district 23-2A. Riesel drops to 1-2 in district play.

The Lady Eagles were plagued by fouls for most of the contest but were able to pull away in the end.

Olivia Farmer led all scorers with 23 points and Brianna Weaver added 10 points for the Eagles. Savannah Pritchett chipped in 8 points and had four blocks.

Hubbard 63, Bosqueville 54: Kate Saucke had 17 points and Nakaila Banks added 14 as Hubbard beat Bosqueville 63-54 in a non-district game.

Hubbard’s junior varsity also beat Bosqueville 35-10.

Coolidge 43, Frost 33: Frost lost for the first time this season, falling to the Lady Polar Bears 43-33 on Tuesday night in a District 19-1A DII.

Diana Rio led the way with 11 points for the No. 9-ranked Lady Polar Bears.
