As the principal of Mildred High School, I would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to our coaches and to our student-athletes for a great season that finishes up tonight at Cowboys Stadium. Through dedication and hard work they have accomplished this great feat. But, it has not been done alone. It has taken a team effort to achieve such an outstanding milestone. I would like to say a special thank you to the Eagle band, cheerleaders, parents, community, administration, faculty, staff, and fans for the support you have shown throughout our successful season. Your support, enthusiasm, dedication, and passion contribute to the overall positive climate and success of our school.
Coach Harvell and his staff have led the Mildred football program to a great level of success. They have developed a system for success for not only this football season, but for many seasons to come. They set a goal last year, and now that goal is coming to fruition. Their “All In” approach to their goal is an example for everyone to admire and replicate. The young men who have been involved in this are not only winners on the field but are winners in the classroom as well. At Mildred, it is part of our very nature to talk everyday about dressing right, acting right, making the right decisions, and being winners in all aspects of life. These student-athletes have demonstrated this leadership example on a daily basis, and have been great role models for our future Eagles.
At Mildred, we have developed a systematic process that propels our students to success on the field, in the classroom, and in life. This system is not confined to the school alone, but is shared by this community as a whole; this is why this occasion is celebrated with the same “All In” approach - as an entire community.
I would like to leave you with a quote from one of the all-time great coaches. I feel this quote sums up our team’s accomplishments this season.
Coach Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant once said, “If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride – and never quit – you’ll be a winner. The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards.”
