UPDATE: Blooming Grove is coming off a tough loss on the road in Dallas to Red Oak Life in which the Lions gave up 405 yards on defense on the night including 257 on the ground in a 34-7 loss ...But the Lions moved the ball last week, gaining 282 yards on the ground and amassing 377 yards of offense ...They completed 8 of 14 passes for 95 yards ... The Lions had a big 45-14 win against Dallas Gateway a year as four different players scored ... Gateway led in that game 6-0, but then-QB Jayd Kirby, who scored twice, sparked the comeback ... Whiteside scored a TD against Gateway in Dallas last year and Ellis kicked a 27-yard field goal in that game ... Whiteside also scored last week in the opening night loss ...Gateway did not play last week, and is coming off 4-6 season, but the Gators lost 14 seniors and is rebuilding.

UPDATE: Eustace rallied to win last year’s meeting, 26-23, on a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter … In last week’s season openers, Rice struggled with Hubbard, while Eustace stopped Canton, 26-21 … RB Chris Atchley scored the lone Rice touchdown last week, finishing the game with 103 yards rushing … Sophomores Sergio Gonzalez and Dylynn Anderson had successful varsity debuts for Rice, combining for 114 yards rushing on 14 carries … Rice had to face Hubbard last week without its starting QB and ran up against a Hubbard team that appears loaded this season ...Defensively, Rice was paced by LB Raven Huffman with 12 tackles and 3 sacks … Eustace rushed for 317 yards against 3A Canton last week … Steven Stine led the ground game with 136 yards on 22 carries … Eustace held Canton to only 190 yards of total offense.

UPDATE: Dawson was downed by Cross Roads last week 46-13 ... Kerens was taken down by Edgewood by the score of 53-26 ... both teams will look to tighten up their defenses after allowing a total of 99 points and 972 yards from scrimmage between the two in week zero...Nate Betts will look to get things going again after rushing for 132-yards and 2 TD's last week...Dawson will look for help from the explosive Ian Norwood after Norwood returned a 74-yard kickoff for a TD ... Dawson had only 146 yards of total offense against Cross Roads ..The Bulldogs have a ne coach in Larry Prince nd a lot of hope to have a breakout season and they end a two-year losing streak while Kerens is trying to bounce back after a surprising loss in its opener. The Bobcats entered the season with high expectations and were disapointed after he opening night loss.

UPDATE: Last year, Frost scored two second-half touchdowns to beat Alba-Golden 29-16…Last week, Alba-Golden rolled past Cumby 32-18…the Panthers expect to run behind Kennedy (6’5, 265) with Salinas (5’6, 200, 4.8) and Wright (6’1, 220, 4.7)…The Polar Bears lost four of their 11 fumbles in last week’s 38-14 loss to Chico at Bedford’s Pennington Field…Two of the lost fumbles occurred inside the Polar Bears’ 5-yard line and led to Chico touchdowns…Hailey, a freshman, was a bright-spot with 117-yards rushing on 15 attempts as he played QB and RB…Hailey had a 74-yard touchdown run and another 80-yard touchdown run was nullified due to a penalty…Clayton led the defense with 6 tackles and a sack last week. He also caught the only Polar Bear pass in last week’s game – a two point conversion from Hailey.

UPDATE: Opening week saw Hubbard pummel outmanned Class 2A DII Rice 58-6 on the road. Bosqueville opened by besting Bartlett 43-20 ... The Bulldogs ran over Hubbard by a 35-9 margin last year at Jaguar Field after leading 14-9 at the half ... Bosqueville went three rounds deep in the Class 1A DI playoffs in 2012 while Hubbard was ousted in the first week of the Class 1A DII postseason play ... Both teams entered the 2013 season with lofty expectations and both have been ranked in early Class 1A polls ... The Jags rushed for over 350 yards last week as senior RB Logan McClinton accounted for 235 on just 12 carries while fellow senior RB Trey Henderson scored four times on the ground ... Bosqueville senior QB C.J. Collins threw for 314 yards and three TDs against Bartlett last week after accumulating over 2,500 yards and 30 scores through the air in 2012.

UPDATE: Saturday’s matchup will be the first time Wortham and Chico have played each other… Chico is looking to build on last week’s win against Frost…The Dragons had a combined offense of 282 yards, 177 coming off the ground… McGuire ran for 62 yards, including a 38-yard TD and also threw a 19-yard TD pass to Matt Carter, who opened the game last week with a 65-yard TD run ... Wortham is looking to minimize turnovers this week, after fumbling four times and throwing one interception against Hillsboro JV… The Bulldogs offense, led by senior captain, Witty Busby, gained a total of 202 yards … Busby completed 7 of 13 for 85 yards … Wortham’s defense held Hillsboro JV to 168 total yards of offense ....and the defense came up bg with a goal line stand and two blocked kicks ...Linebacker Blake Hutson had 11 tackles.
