GC Volleyball: Roundup -- Corsicana, Mildred, Frost, Dawson win

Corsicana — The Corsicana Tigers had big games from several players to improve to 3-5 in the District 16-4A race and keep their playoff hopes alive with a sweep over Jacksonville, 25-13, 25-9, 25-18 Tuesday. The Tigers need to win one of their last two matches to make the playoffs.

 Cecilia Lopez (10 digs), Kim Moreno (2 aces, 2.8 service-reception), Teleia Braziel (4 digs, 2.7 S-R), Jenny Garcia (3 aces, 5 digs), MaKenzie Lee (2 kills, 4 solo blocks, 1 assisted block), Carley Cates (2 aces, 4 kills, 18 assists, 14 digs, 2.5 S-R), Veronica Reyes (7 service points in a row, 2.0 S-R), Mychelette Andrews (3 kills, 1 block, 1 ace), Stephanie Willingham (4 kills, 3 digs, 1 block, 1 ace) and Brianna Biltz (2 aces, 3 kills, 9 digs) led the Tigers.

 

Mildred completes perfect run

Mildred wrapped up a perfect District 23-2A season by beating Marlin, 25-16, 25-15, 25-15 Tuesday. The Lady Eagles are 10-0 and 19-16-1 for the season.

Callie Bland (12 assists, 2 aces, 4 kills, 1 block, 8 digs), Savannah Pritchett (10 kills, 6 blocks, 3 aces, 4 digs), Shelby Adamson (4 kills, 2 blocks), Ella Watts (2 kills 2 blocks), Abbie Burnham (1 kill, 1 block, 3 aces, 6 digs), and Sagen Williams (5 assists, 1 ace 1 dig) led Mildred.

 

 

Frost wins 10th straight

State-ranked Frost won its 10th match in a row, sweeping Milford, 25-15, 25-14, 25-18 to improve to 10-2 in district and 23-7 for the season

The Lady Polar Bears, who are ranked No. 12 in the state, were led by Heather Montgomery ( 2 kills, 1 block, 2 aces), Hillaree Schwartz (5 kills, 10 assists, 2 aces), Jae Moore (18 kills, 2 aces), Kaycee Bowling (3 kills, 17 assists, 8 aces, 24 for 26 serving) and Madison Revil (3 kills, 3 aces).



State-ranked Dawson stays hot

Dawson, ranked No. 20 in the state, swept Cross Roads Tuesday to stay in the playoff hunt.

Stephanie Lindsey (8 kills), Demi Dotson (5 kills) and Jalyn Miller (5 kills) led the Lady Bulldogs.
