Corsicana Daily Sun
The Tigers showed again how much they’ve improved as a volleyball team Friday afternoon.
It just didn’t result in a win.
Corsicana lost to Tyler John Tyler 25-19, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22 at Tiger Gym.
The Tigers (2-6 in district) won the second set to take momentum into the rest of the match. The hitting of John Tyler took over.
Tyler made four straight kills at 11-10 in third set and the Tigers never threatened in the third set. Corsicana played much better in the final set.
Two kills by Rebecca Bentz gave the Tigers an early 5-4 lead. And even though Tyler eventually shot out to a 17-12 lead, the Tigers rallied to within a point to 20-19 and had the set at 24-22 before Tyler closed out the win.
The Tigers led most of the first half of set one as Becca Bentz had four kills. But Tyler tied the set at 15-15 and then reeled off 7 of 8 points to take control.
Corsicana did the rallying in the second set — twice. The Tigers were down 12-7 but came back to tie it at 18-18. The Tigers led 22-20 but Tyler made three straight points to lead 23-22. The Tigers then won the last three points. Briana Biltz had a kill and two errors on serves by Tamera White gave the Tigers the set.
