Corsicana — The Navarro Bulldogs are conference champions once again.

The No. 14-ranked Bulldogs won Game 2 of a doubleheader on Saturday, pounding Panola 11-1 in a seven-inning game at Graham Field.

Navarro (35-13, 22-4) clinched the regular season title with four games left. Navarro has won 11 of its last 13 games. It’s their third regular season title in four years.

The Bulldogs have won the conference title 12 of the last 17 years. It’s the fourth title during Whoa Dill’s seven years as head coach. The last time the Bulldogs won the regular season title in 2011 they went on to win the regional tournament in Brenham and the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.

Navarro has two conference doubleheaders left before the regional tournament, which starts May 9 in Lufkin.

Chad Young (7-1) pitched the first four innings for the title-clinching win in Game 2, allowing two hits and a run. J.D. Hammer finished off the game with three hitless innings.

Tyler Wilson had three hits and RBI to pace the offense. The Bulldogs scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 11-1 lead.

Byron Reichstein, John Clay Reeves, Grayson Lewis and Mason Salazar all had two hits each for the Bulldogs. Eight different Bulldogs had RBIs.

Navarro lost the opener of the doubleheader 5-3 in eight innings. The game was tied 2-2 going into extra innings when Panola’s Jacob Blissett socked a two-out, three-run double off Navarro closer Blake Griffin.

The Bulldogs tried to rally in the bottom of the eighth as Bryon Reichstein walked and Tyler Wilson doubled with one out. Campbell Cooper grounded out to score a run to make it 5-3 and Grayson Lewis grounded out to shortstop to end the game.

Lukas Schiraldi, who was 9-0 coming into the game, got a no-decision, allowing an earned run in seven innings. He allowed five hits and had eight strikeouts.
