Navarro opened up the 2013 baseball season with authority Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs won their season opener, crushing Alvin 15-1 in the first of four road games this weekend.
It was the seventh season in a row Navarro coach Whoa Dill’s team has won its season opener. Navarro wins the second game 7-2 behind the pitching of Chad Young.
Texarkana transfer Byron Reichstein had a memorable first game for the Bulldogs as the right fielder went 4-for-4 with a double, two triples and four RBIs. Catcher John Clay Reeves, a transfer from Arkansas, was 2-for-5 with three RBIs.
Center fielder Kevin Meredith was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs. Left fielder Kaleb Goodell was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Shortstop Drake Roberts, a transfer from Oklahoma, was 2-for-5.
Navarro starter Lukas Schiraldi pitched five innings and allowed a run on four hits. He had three strikeouts and three walks.
