Gage Curry pitched the best game of his Navarro career in Saturday's opener at the Region XIV Tournament.
Curry pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing just five hits as Navarro topped the Galveston College Whitecaps 4-0 in a first-round game at Angelina College.
Navarro (40-15) advances to play Paris at 5 p.m. Sunday. The Dragons beat Alvin 3-2 in 10 innings earlier Saturday.
Curry had nine strikeouts. He only had one inning where Galveston put more than one runner on base.
Navarro's offense took a while to get going. Drake Roberts stole his 28th base in the first inning, but that was only part of the story. He stole home in dramatic fashion giving the Bulldogs an early 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs finally picked up some insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth. They loaded the bases without a hit. Third baseman Grayson Lewis, who has surged late in the season, produced a two-run single for a 3-0 lead. Kevin Meredith added a RBI single for a 4-0 lead.
