— The Blooming Grove 8-and-under machine pitch Lions took second place at state and the Kerens T-Ball team was still alive in Emory as the state tournaments concluded Friday all over Texas.
The Lions roared through the district tournament in Mildred to advance to state with a dramatic win in the final and then riåpped through the field at state, winning their first four games, and coming back to beat Whitney, 9-1, Thursday morning to stay alive. They beat Whitney twice. They lost a nailbiter in a classic title game to Rogers, 6-2.
They opened with a 10-1 win against Temple on Monday and beat the Hillsboro Bad News Bears, 15-8, on Tuesday.
Kerens advanced in the T-Ball in Emory with a 20-11 win against Temple, then lost to Van but they were still alive, in the semifinals on Friday night.
