Corsicana — The Tigers did exactly what they needed to do in Tuesday night’s district opener against Tyler John Tyler.

Three pitchers combined to no-hit the Lions, and Corsicana hitters had patient at-bats in a 16-0 victory over John Tyler in a game that lasted just over an hour.

Tyler Casbeer, Trevor Nolen and DJ Minniear combined for three hitless innings. They had four strikeouts. Right fielder Brady Harlan had three putouts in the second inning, including a spectacular diving catch down the right field line.

“It was exactly what we wanted to happen,” Corsicana coach Heath Autrey said. “We threw strikes and Brady made a good catch to save a double. And we hit the ball well.”

The Tigers scored six runs in the bottom of the first. Harlan and Ben Goodrich had RBI singles. Zane Otten had an RBI double and Bobby Lopez had a two-run double.

Corsicana scored 10 runs in its other at-bat in the bottom of the second. Harlan had an RBI double and Aaron Cantu had a run-scoring single in the inning. Reid Folmar had a sacrifice fly.

The Tigers made quick work of John Tyler and now get ready for their first road district game Friday night at Nacogdoches.
