GC Baseball/Softball: Trent Underwood hurls perfect game for Dawson

Lefty has 7 Ks in 15-0 win; Woods hits 2 HRS for Kerens in 17-2 victory

Trent Underwood threw a three-inning perfect game for his second no-hitter of the season as Dawson pounded Abbott 15-0 on Friday.

Underwood struck out seven of the nine Abbott hitters he faced.

Frost 19, Avalon 10: Danial Steels, Robert Worley and Josh Frazier all hit home runs as Frost hammered Avalon 19-10 in a district game on Friday.

Steels had a grand slam. Frazier had three RBIs and Ferguson had two RBIs.

Kerens 17 Fruitvale 2: Dylan Woods belted two hits and also picked up the win on the mound as Kerens trounced Fruitvale 17-2 on Friday.

The Bobcats (9-2, 6-0) will face No. 4 Cayuga, also 6-0 in district, at home on Tuesday.

Wortham 11, Mart 3: Cole Jendel won his third game of the season as Kyle Goerner and Steven Hutson had doubles as Wortham (7-9, 1-1) beat Mart 11-3.


Mildred 24, Rice 0: The Mildred Lady Eagles (5-0) remained undefeated in District 23-2A with a 24-0 three inning victory over the visiting Rice Lady Bulldogs on Friday.

Joanna Tapley picked up the win on the mound for the Lady Eagles. She threw a no-hitter, striking out five and walking four in three innings.

Callie Bland and Brianna Weaver each had a triple and two hits for the Eagles. Tapley and Olivia Farmer also had two hits in the game.

Mildred travels to Blooming Grove on Tuesday for a key district matchup. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Frost 20, Covington 0 (3): Dakota Lassetter had a home run, triple and four RBIs as Frost pummelled Covington 20-0 in a District 12-2A game. Jae Moore had seven strikeouts for the Lady Polar Bears.

    Kaylana, a Corsicana native, picked up fans from all over the country and many bought Bebop T-shirts to help pay her expenses to Spokane, Wa., where she won the 8-and-under title in the double-mini trampoline event and finished third in floor exercise.
    More than 100 of her friends, family members and fans showed up at the Corsicana YMCA on Saturday to celebrate the national title and be on hand for a drawing for an autographed New Orleans Saints football jersey from David Hawthorne, a star defensive lineman for the Saints and Kaylana's uncle
