Lady Tigers fall in five to Whitehouse

Corsicana — The Corsicana Lady Tigers put up a valiant effort against Whitehouse on Friday, losing in five sets in the District 16-4A opener.

Corsicana claimed the first set 25-19, before losing 25-18 and 25-11. The Lady Tigers (9-10, 0-1) fought back to tie the match with a 25-21 victory in the fourth set. Whitehouse, considered one of the top teams in the district, claimed the match with a 25-11 fifth-set victory.

Cecilia Lopez was one of the statistical leaders for Corsicana, collecting 38 digs and serving a pair of aces.

Carly Cates had 25 assists, 18 digs and an ace.

Briana Biltz paced the Tiger front line with 15 kills, 24 digs and two assists. Caroline Biltz had nine kills and four aces. McKayla Goodwin and Mychellete Andrews had five and six kills, respectively, for Corsicana.

Teleia Braziel contributed 13 digs for the Tigers.
