Frost 10th at girls state cross country meet

Corsicana — Led by Maria Suaste’s eighth place finish overall, the Frost girls were 10th in the Class 1A cross country meet Saturday. The Lady Bears tallied 225 points.

Harper won with 78 points, followed by San Saba’s 86. Cushing (11th, 238) and Shelbyville (12th, 302) beat Frost at the regional meet, but finished behind the Lady Bears at state.

Suaste, a junior, finished the course in a time of 12:40.86. Sundown’s Andrea Sanchez clocked a 11:40.95 to win the individual gold.

Six of Frost’s seven runners were underclassmen. Sophomore Hillaree Schwartz was 29th overall with a time of 13:13.63, while fellow sophomore Jae Moore was 44th overall with a time of 13:34.36.

Freshman Kennah Kennedy was 68th overall with a time of 14:27.57, and senior Diana Rios logged the final team time with a 14:55.11. Sophomores Katelyn Sanford and Madison Revill also ran for the Lady Bears.
