FROST — The Texas heat may be beating up high school football teams all over the state, but at Frost High, the kids don’t take the field until until 6 or 6:30 p.m. “I like the idea of practicing at about the same time we are going to be playing our games,’’ said Frost coach Eric Blenden, who came up with the idea a year ago.
It helped set the tone for a 12-2 season.
Blenden has players who have to work, and he also knows the timing could be just right for his kids, who like the idea of waiting until the evening to take the field.
“The first practice we had this week, everyone was 45 minutes early,’’ Blenden said. “They liked doing it last year, and they liked doing it again.
“They can sleep late and work and do what they have to do before coming to football practice.’’
