GC Track: GC athletes fare well (adds Alex Cruz of Frost winning silver)

Corsicana — Here are the Golden Circle results in the UIL state track meet, which was held Saturday in Austin:

Frost's Alex Cruz logged the Golden Circle's best finish in Austin over the weekend, taking silver in the Class 1A-DII boys 110-meter hurdles. Cruz logged a time of 15.27 seconds, second only to Channing's Grant McLean (14.66).

Dawson’s Courtney Warren, who was making her third consecutive trip to the 1A DI state track meet, finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 48.04.

Albany’s Kami Norton won the title in a time of 43.81   

Kerens’ Jalon Moss finished sixth in the 1A DI boys 400 meter finals at the state meet Saturday. He ran a 51.71. Falls City’s Joseph Swierc won the race in 49.91

The Hubbard girls 4x200 relay team of Elisa Hall, Jasmine Parks, Ana Garcia and Tia Parks takes third in the 1A DI state final with a time of 1:47.07

. The Kerens 4x200 relay team of Marqueshia Kelly, Breanna Baxter, Emmanuella Armant and Kiarra Lindsey had the second fastest qualifying time in the event, but did not finish the race.

Van Horn won the title in a time of 144:46

The Kerens girls 4x100 meter relay team takes fifth in the 1A DI finals with a time of 49.90. Marqueshia Kelly, Breanna Baxter Emmanuella Armant and Kiara Lindsey ran on the team.

In the 1A-DI boys 3,200 meters, Dawson’s Seth Lachney was seventh in a time of 10:28.98. Micah Davidson of Valley View won in a time of 9:57.65.

The Frost girls competed in all three 1A-DII relays, taking a sixth, a fourth and an eighth place. In the 400 meter relay, the team of Kennah Kennedy, Hillaree Schwartz, Kaycee Bowling and Diana Rios were sixth with a time of 52.66 Ira won, setting a new division record with a time of 51.49.
