Rice’s Ragan Henderson continued a banner senior year Saturday at the State Powerlifting Championships in Abilene.
Henderson took fifth place in Division III, totally 1,665 pounds in the three lifting competitions in the 242-pound division.
Henderson sparkled in the deadlifting category, where he set a Division III state record.
Henderson lifted 675 pounds, making a powerful statement. He also squatted 615 pounds and bench pressed 315 pounds.
San Diego’s Reno Perez won the Division III gold medal in the 242-pound division with 1,815 pounds.
Henderson was an All-Golden Circle selection at running back in football. He has signed to play football next year at Sam Houston State.
