Frost — On the first offensive possession of the game, Frost RB Robert Worley, with LT Raymundo Hernandez, LG Alexis Lopez, and C Chris Belcher leading the way, broke through Alba-Golden’s line and dashed down the sideline for a 58-yard touchdown. Polar Bears LB Colton Clayton recovered a Panthers fumble on the ensuing series, but the Bears could not capitalize.
By the second quarter, Alba-Golden began a comeback. Panther LB Machan Meade wrapped-up Polar Bear RB Kobe Hailey on fourth and 3 at the Frost 25-yard line for no gain. The Panthers scored five plays later to tie the game. Then the Bears fumbled at mid-field. That’s when the Polar Bears defense made a stand that carried them the rest of the game. On fouth and 11 at the Frost 43-yard line, the Panthers ran a fake punt to the right seem with Cody Melton picking up a 35-yards. The gain was nullified due to a holding penalty. Facing fourth down again, the Panthers ran another fake punt. Frost LB Laton Eastman nailed RB Eddie Salinas along the left-line for no gain. After the change of possession, Frost scored to take a 12-6 lead into halftime.
The Polar Bear defense stopped Alba-Golden on five fourth down conversion attempts, recovered two fumbles and recorded two sacks. With 9:52 left in the fourth quarter, Worley again maneuvered behind the left-side lineman and found open territory. With DB Cannon Dean tearing his jersey, Worley plunged into the end zone to push the Bears into a commanding lead.
