MILLSAP — Although the Rice struggled on offense for the first three quarters, the Bulldogs found enough offense in the fourth quarter to rally past the Millsap Bulldogs, 19-9, in a defensive struggle in District 6-2A DII action Friday night.  With the win, Rice improves to 3-4, 2-2 in district play, while Millsap falls to 2-5, 1-3.

Rice entered the fourth quarter with only 32 yards of total offense, but put together back-to-back scoring drives to turn a 9-6 deficit to a 19-9 lead.  Austin Peppers scored the go ahead touchdown on a 7-yard run with 6:04 remaining in the game, capping a 10-play, 65-yard drive. Chris Atchley, who carried the ball six times for 45 yards on the drive, led Rice with 93 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

After stopping Millsap on fourth down, Atchley and Peppers again led the Bulldogs down the field, this time Atchley finishing the drive with a 7-yard touchdown.

Millsap had taken the lead late in the third quarter on a 29-yard field goal by Mitchell Coker.
