Kerens scores early, often in 41-8 win over Itasca

KERENS — Nate Betts threw four touchdowns and ran for another as Kerens routed Itasca, 41-8, to set up shot at tying for the District 6-1A DI crown next week.

The Bobcats (5-4, 3-1) would tie the for the title with a win over Italy, which defeated Cayuga, which beat Kerens.

Betts found Brett Anderson twice, from 35 and 50 yards, and hit Shelton Sayles for 30 yards for TDs. He closed out the scoring for the Bobcats in the third quarter when he found Dontarius Bryant for a 40-yard score.

Betts had a 30-yard touchdown run earlier in the third, and Bryant’s two-point conversion made it 35-0.

Anderson had a first quarter interception that set up a 12-yard Bryant touchdown run that gave the Bobcats a 13-0 lead midway through the first.
