RECORDS: Class 2A DII Mildred is 1-1. Class 2A DII Frankston is 0-2.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Mildred: WR/DB Russell Holden, RB/LB Hunter Freeman, L Mario Villareal, WR/DB Connor Hill. Frankston: QB Ozzie Buckner, L John Ross, WR Cory Winks, WR/DB Kendrick Rogers.

UPDATE: Both teams are coming off close loses, Mildred 27-24 to Centerville, Frankston 35-30 to Elkhart when the Elks scored with 57 seconds left ... Mildred won last year’s meeting, 41-6, as the Indians had five turnovers ... Holden leads the Eagles with four catches for 123 yards, including a 78-yard TD last week ... Hill is one of three Eagles with an INT this season ... with 10 extra points through two games, Mildred K Devin O’Sullivan has 231 for his career, second only to Southlake Carroll’s Cade Foster’s 263 (2006-’09) in state history ... the Indians have lost two games by a combined eight points ... Buckner is 40 of 65 for 445 yards, three TDs and three INTs ... Rogers had eight catches for 75 yards and a TD in the opener, Winks had eight for 147 last week ... Frankston is 2-9 in non-district the last three seasons.

UPDATE: Dawson is looking to bounce back after giving up 549 yards to Kerens in a 54-0 loss with 446 of those coming on the ground ...  that means the Bulldogs have given up a combined 944 yards in the last two games, which is more than the Cowboys and Giants combined for in yardage in Sunday night's showdown ... although Dawson has suffered some major defeats, this struggling young team is steadily inching its way back up the hill ... the Lions are coming off of an impressive win over Dallas Gateway by a score of 48-12 ... the Lions had three players rush for more than 100 yards last week ... Ellis gained 122 yards on 12 carries, Whiteside rushed for 119 yards on 10 carries and Morris ran for 105 yards on 19 carries ... The Lions rushed for 431 yards in the win last week.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Cross Roads: RB/DB Raleigh Seilheirrer, RB/LB Chase Lopez, WR/LB Justin Vaughn, OL/LB Will VanDusen. Rice: OL/DL Billy Stephens, WR/DB Alex Stough, OL/LB Blake Smith, WR/DB Reece Whitt.

UPDATE: Rice won a wild one last year, outscoring the Bobcats 55-42, and leads the overall series 6-3 … Both teams are coming off losses on the road last week, with Rice falling to Eustace 24-7, while Cross Roads lost to Hawkins 54-14 … Rice will be Cross Roads’ second Golden Circle opponent, beating Dawson in Week Zero … Rice sophomore Sergio Gonzalez is averaging over 12 yards per carry this year … Chris Atchley, who leads Rice in rushing this season with 159 yards, had 163 yards last year against the Bobcats … After missing Week Zero with an injury, Austin Peppers returned to the Bulldog secondary last week … Bobcat QB Aaron Arden has completed 14 passes for 205 yards this season … Raleigh Seilheirrer leads the Bobcat defense with 20 tackles, in rushing, receiving, and scoring.

PLAYERS TO WATCH::  Gateway: QB Michael Jimmerson, DL De Andre Porter, OL/DL Javon Toney, LB Kelvin Williams.  Frost: DB Mason Ferguson, QB Zach Terry, RB/LB Woody Woods, DT Christian Woolverton.

Update: Last week Blooming Grove beat Gateway 48-12 ...  Frost beat the Gators at the “swamp” last year 28-6 … in that game the Polar Bears held Gateway to 6 rushing yards and 102 passing yards … the Gators graduated 14 seniors and return three starters on each side of the ball … Jimmerson passed for 872 yards and 8 touchdowns while rushing for 573 yards and 3 touchdowns last season … Frost beat Alba-Golden 20-6 last week … Woods had 15 tackles, two tackles for losses, including a sack and two QB pressures ...  Woolverton had 9 tackles and Ferguson 6 tackles … Offensively, Terry, in his first start, completed two of his four passes for third down conversions … RB Robert Worley gained 136 yards on 11 carries and scored two touchdowns.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Hubbard: OL Austin Englehardt, WR Nick Johnson, LB Tré Knight, DL Bryan Walker.  Rio Vista: QB Nick Russell, RB Jordan Ward, TE/LB Chase Hailey, OL/DL Jacob Waits.

UPDATE: Hubbard suffered its first setback of the season last week in a 36-35 OT loss at Bosqueville ... Rio Vista also lost for the first time in 2013 by dropping a 41-14 decision to Class 1A Hico ... the Jags rolled up over 350 yards of total offense against Bosqueville but were hindered by three turnovers and 10 penalties ...  in Hubbard’s loss,  Jags’ QB Casen Martin threw for two scores, ran for another and intercepted two passes on defense ... Rio Vista opened the season with 54-8 win over Itasca while Hubbard rolled over Rice 58-6 in its opener ... in two games this season, Russell has rushed for 222 yards and passed for 196 for the Eagles ... last season Hubbard pounded Rio Vista 36-0 at home ...  Jaguars hope to have three key starters back this week after RB Logan McClinton, OL Chris Reid and TE Hudson Alderman missed last week’s contest due to injuries.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Cayuga: RB/DB Keshawn Jackson, WR/DB Cota Wilburn, WR/DB Payton Wallace, RB/LB John Venable. Wortham: WR/LB Jordan Lansford, WR/DB Daniel Trantham, WR/LB Ethan McCoslin, WR/DB Jonathon Hughes.

UPDATE:  Cayuga has outscored its opponents 125–26 this season … dominating last week’s match up against Mt. Enterprise, 63-12 ... the Wildcats had four players to score a total of nine touchdowns … Jackson rushed for 53 yards and five touchdowns ... Wilburn scored twice, rushing for 108 yards ... Wortham was held to 77 yards of offense, while being blanked by Chico 39-0 last week … Witty Busby, completed only 5 of 21 passes for 44 yards and threw two interceptions … Wortham used five different rushers to try and get things rolling but was held to 33 yards on the ground … the Bulldog defense gave up five TDs, but had some shining moments ... the  Bulldogs blocked a PAT, stopped a two-point conversion and had three stops in the red zone ... Cayuga won last year’s meeting 35-7.
