Carter-Vandergriff Wedding

Kristin Elizabeth Carter and Todd Allen Vandergriff, both of Corsicana, were joined in marriage Feb. 9, 2008 at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Dr. Chris Moody performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Kenny and Debbie Carter of Corsicana, and is a 2004 graduate of Mildred High School. She completed the Navarro College Cosmetology program in 2007, and is employed at Tangles in Corsicana as a licensed certified cosmetologist.
The groom is the son of Steven and Vonnie Vandergriff, also of Corsicana. He is a 1997 graduate of Greenville High School, and is employed as a sales consultant at Stewart Motor Company.
The bride wore a white strapless satin wedding gown with four-foot train and a bodice with crystal beads and brocade. White satin opera length gloves were also worn. The bride wore her hair down with ringlet curls and a tiara with a long veil trimmed in crystal beads. The bouquet, which was made by the bride’s grandmother Sandy Lane, featured long-stemmed dark red velvet roses, sprays for white baby’s breath, and intertwined with pearl strands.
The bride was ushered in and given away by her father, Kenny Carter, to the “Bridal March.” The bridesmaids walked in to “Canon in D.” The bride and bridal party exited to “How Sweet it is to be Loved by You.”
Anna Dawn Darby, sister of the bride of Dallas, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Rachel Washburn, friend of the bride of Corsicana; Emily Carter, bride’s cousin of Dallas; and Amanda Perry of Corsicana, friend of the bride. They wore red satin tea length gowns and carried bouquets of red and white roses tied with red and white ribbon streamers.
The flower girl, Kaylee Dawn Muncy of Corsicana (and cousin of the bride) was dressed as a miniature bride, wearing a white satin tea length dress with tulle overlay and a white veil.
Ayron Michael Vandergriff of Austin served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Michael Banks of Corsicana, friend of the groom; Joshua Carter of Ennis, brother of the bride; and Weston Grounds of Corsicana, friend of the groom. The groomsmen wore black tuxedos with red vests and red ties. The groom wore a black tuxedo with white vest and white tie.
The church pews were decorated with white tulle bows. The altar was decorated with two candelabras decorated with white tulle. The unity candle table was lined with white table cloths and a bouquet of red and white roses, rose petals and green garland.
Three songs played during the wedding were performed by mother of the bride Debbie Carter and friend, Todd Jones.
A Valentine’s Day reception theme was held at Star Hall with a lit fireplace. The stage was decorated with the bride and groom tables and a lighted arch decorated with tulle and white and silver bows. Music and dancing took place at the reception with music from the 50’s to the 90’s. The tables were decorated with white tablecloths and a glass vase with crystal marbles and a long stemmed red rose tied with silver and red ribbon. The tables were covered with red rose petals. Also used as table decorations were candy hearts and red and white M&Ms.
The house party consisted of Hanna Muncy of Corsicana, cousin of the bride, who served the wedding cake, which was a four-tier red wedding cake trimmed in white pearls. Tori Wardell, cousin of the bride of Palestine, served punch and groom’s cake, which was a four-tier chocolate cake with chocolate-dipped strawberries.
The couple makes their home in Corsicana following a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico.
