Gossett-Hargrave Wedding
Emily Nicole Gossett and Hayden James Hargrave were united in marriage at 6 p.m. July 11, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Slaton, Texas with the Rev. Cleve Kerby officiating the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Gossett of Slaton and the granddaughter of E.D. Gossett of Slaton.
The groom is the son of Christie and Danny Petty of Murchison and Mary and Skip Hargrave of Corsicana. Grandparents are Joyce Hargrave and the late Jim Hargrave, Lou Null and the late Bill H. Null, and Arlen and Gloria St. Clair, all of Corsicana. Great-grandmother is Ruth Graves of Corsicana.
Pianist was Cyndi Trower, and guitarist was Christopher Gossett, brother of the bride. Don Caldwell of Lubbock, close friend of the bride, played saxophone.
Emily was escorted down the aisle by her father, David Gossett, to the sound of the saxophone. The bride wore a white, pure silk satin strapless gown by Jasmine. She wore her grandmother’s wedding band and the groom’s great-grandmother’s wedding band, which belonged to his great-great-grandmother, who had it divided for her twin daughters on their wedding day. These family heirlooms were symbols of “something old” tokens of love.
Scripture was read during the ceremony by Jourdan Hayes, sister of the groom, and Joyce Hargrave and Lou Null, grandmothers of the groom.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents had a “wedding eve fiesta” at the home of the bride’s parents in Slaton and following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a reception of dinner and dance at the 4 Bar K in Lubbock with entertainment provided by Lubbock Rhythm Machine.
Attending the bride were Candice Howard of Lubbock, Loren Kuebler of Milton, Florida, and Stephanie Clark of Dallas. They wore black strapless tea-length dresses with white sashes and carried bouquets of white roses and calla lilies to match the bridal bouquet.
Groomsmen were Tim Green and Lance Allred of Corsicana and Christopher Gossett of Slaton, brother of the bride.
Flower girl was Jaylee Poole of Lubbock and Carter and Cooper Hayes of Corsicana, Hayden’s nephews, served as ring bearers.
Emily is a graduate of Slaton High School and Hayden is a graduate of Corsicana High School. Both are graduates of Texas Tech University.
After a honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, the couple will live in Lubbock where Hayden is in sales with Asco Equipment and Emily is employed by Gossett Farms.
