Dr. Justin Barton Pillans and Elizabeth Anne Wilson were joined in matrimony Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 in a double ring ceremony at The American Church in Paris, France. The Rev. Dan Thornton officiated the ceremony, following a blessing by Dr. Rick Lamb of Northside Baptist Church, via telephone from Israel, earlier in the day.
The bride chose a couture gown by Milly. The silk satin gown with lace overlay featured a drop-waist column and ballroom skirt. The bride also wore an ivory fur bolero and gold Valentino heels with iconic bow. The bride’s jewelry was commissioned by Parisian designer Debra Moreland. Her bouquet was hand-tied pink peonies, her favorite flower. The groom chose a custom navy and black Tom Ford tuxedo.
“Trumpet Voluntary in D” by Clarke was performed by organist Peter Bannister during the processional of the bride. During the lighting of the unity candle, he performed “O God Beyond all Praising/I Vow to Thee, My Country”, by Holst. This song is dear to the couple, as it was performed at Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation Gala, attended by the bride and groom at Buckingham Palace in July. “Hornpipe” by Handel was performed during the recessional of the bride and groom.
Following the ceremony, the couple celebrated at Le Taillevent, off the Champs Elysees. Guests of the wedding included family from Texas and France. The couple resides in Corsicana.
