Misty Michelle Lloyd and William Charles Bowyer of Corsicana exchanged wedding vows in a double-ring ceremony held at 4 p.m. July 11, 2009, at Park Meadows Baptist Church. The ceremony was performed by Pastor David P. Mitchell.
The bride is the daughter of Don and Joyce Lloyd of Corsicana and the groom is the son of Lee and Bertie Bowyer, also of Corsicana. The matron of honor was Shanna York and bridesmaid was Daniella Maldonado, best friends of the bride. The best man was Robert Wilbanks and groomsman was Sammy York, best friends of the groom. The usher was Daniel Lloyd, brother of the bride. The flower girl was Geneva Bowyer, niece of the groom. The ring bearer was Michael York, son of the bride. Piano music was played by Ben Mitchell who chose selections by Bach.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a long, white satin off-the-shoulder original gown. Its round scalloped neckline was surrounded by appliqué satin flowers and seed pearls. The short, laced scalloped sleeves also featured appliqué satin flowers and seed pearls. Satin designs with seed pearls were fashioned around the waist. The bride’s waist-length veil was white tulle with white satin-edged trim. She carried a bouquet of lilies and baby’s breath nestled in white tulle, tied with brown, olive silk, and camouflage streamers. She wore a pearl necklace belonging to her great-grandmother, the late Margaret Berkebile of Pennsylvania, and pearl accessories that were gifts from her grandmother Sharon Bland and great-aunt Joan Delagarza. The matron of honor and bridesmaid wore silk dresses in chocolate brown and carried bouquets of lilies and baby’s breath and tied with brown, olive silk and camouflage ribbons. The flower girl wore a long satin sun dress with a lace overlay trimmed in olive green. An olive green silk scarf was fashioned around the shoulders and a belt of flowers was around her waist and tied with an olive green sash.
A reception followed the ceremony in the fellowship hall of the church. The three-tiered camouflage wedding cake was topped with a mini bride and groom. Lemonade flowed from a lighted fountain, silver and crystal appointments were used and napkins were in the bride’s chosen color of camouflage. The groom’s cake was chocolate with chocolate icing and was topped with an oil derrick. A watermelon basket flowing with fruit and a strawberry and tiramisu cheesecake, made by Raymond Bland Jr., sat on the groom’s table and was surrounded by ivy. Joan Delagarza and Melanie Bland presided over the tables. Guests were from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Copperas Cove, Corsicana, Retreat, Fort Worth, Nolanville, Mesquite and Mexia.
Raymond and Sharon Bland, grandparents of the bride, hosted a barbecue rehearsal dinner on Friday night. The bride is a 2003 graduate of Mildred High School and attended Navarro College. The groom attended Corsicana High School. They are making their home in Retreat.
