Nash-Rash Wedding

Corsicana —

On Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, Katrina L. Nash and Jonathon R. Rash ended one chapter of their lives and began a new chapter as husband and wife. The wedding ceremony took place at Mildred Baptist Church in Mildred, officiated by Bro. Byron Ayers.

Katrina is the daughter of David and Kelly Nash of Independence, Mo. and the late Gail Nash of Saginaw, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy Cole of Waxahachie, Neva Ellison of Jacksboro, and J.W. and Pat Nash of Nocona, Texas.

Jonathon is the son of Rick and Rose Rash of Mildred. He is the grandson of Fred and Leila Rasmussen of Corsicana and Richard and Joyce Rash of Mildred.

At 11 a.m., the ceremony began as the parents were escorted into the sanctuary decorated with candles, white bows and two European bouquet floral pieces of white Egyptian lilies, Casablanca lilies and African lilies. Parents lit the unity candle and the bride’s father lit a memorial candle.

Katrina was escorted by her father, and wore a Galina Signature gown in ivory taffeta. The gown was high-collared, side-draped trumpet gown with beading and button neck detailed. It featured a chapel length train. The head piece was a tiara with a pear-bead veil. Katrina carried a cascade bouquet of orchids and stargazer lilies. Mother and mother-in-law of the bride were presented with red roses during the ceremony.

A memorial candle was lit by Katrina and her brother and sisters before the ceremony began.

Matron of honor was sister of the bride, Andrea Shearman. Bridesmaid was Tamara Elder. Both attendants wore strapless gowns of Malibu blue taffeta. Their bouquets were Starfighter stargazer lilies and orchids. The flower girl was Aubrey Elder, niece of the bride who wore an ivory satin and lace dress.

Serving as best man and groomsman were the groom’s brothers, Jacob and Joseph Rash. They wore black tuxedos with Malibu blue accents. The ring bearers were Kyle Parker and Landon Sherman, nephews of the bride. Serving as ushers were Toug Plilar of Houston, Chris Herrick of College Station, Ryan Nash, brother of the bride of Independence, Mo.

Following tradition, the bride’s “something old” was her new husband’s baby bonnet he wore home from the hospital, which was put into her wedding bouquet. Her “something borrowed” was an English pence and handkerchief, borrowed from the groom’s grandmother, which was worn by her new mother-in-law in her wedding. Her blue garter served as her “something blue,” and the wedding gown was her “something new.”

Music for the ceremony was provided by Amy Cook.

Following the double-ring ceremony, a lunch reception was held in the Activities Center of the church. The room was arranged around center tables that held white flowers, silver serving pieces and the bride’s and groom’s cakes. This was centered under a crystal chandelier that formed the center point for a canopy of white organza. Guests were seated at tables of white linen decorated with blue and white tulle, candles, and other blue and white decorations. Guests were served a beef brisket and turkey dinner, prepared by Jacob Rash.

The wedding cake was a four-tiered vanilla cake with Malibu ribbon trim. It featured a Willow Tree topper and a cascade of orchids and Starfighter lilies. The groom’s cake was a design of the “Saw The Horns Off” logo of Texas A&M. It featured a Texas longhorn with its horns cut off. It was branded with the Texas A&M University logo and “Jon loves Trina.” Cookies with the bride and groom’s initials were also served. Members of the house party were members of the groom’s family, Risa Marx, Patti Woodall, Hilary York, Donna Hill and family friend Megan Atkinson.

Following the reception, the bride and groom left for Marshall, Texas and they will cruise to the Bahamas.

On the eve of the wedding, the bridal party, mothers, and grandmothers were honored with a bridal luncheon hosted by the groom’s grandmother and aunts, Lelia Rasmussen, Amy Carr, Risa Marx and Patti Woodall. Following the rehearsal, a dinner was hosted by the groom’s uncles, Mark Rash and Homer Andrews, at Two Doors Down Coffee House. The meal featured a fajita buffet. The cakes at the dinner were chocolate cake, with chocolate-covered strawberries and a “bleeding armadillo” cake especially made for the groom. All cakes and cookies were created by Kathy Herron.

Following their honeymoon, Jon and Trina will make their home in Bryan. Jonathon is a graduate of Texas A&M University and is employed by Reynolds and Reynolds of College Station.
