McKeown-Stacy Wedding

Sarah Wynne McKeown of Corsicana and Shawn Christopher Stacy of Albuquerque, N.M. were joined in marriage on Sept. 28, 2013 at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Bayard Pratt performed the double ring ceremony.

Sarah is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Elder McKeown of Corsicana. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. David McIntosh Brown of Boerne and Mrs. F.L. McNamara  of Austin, and the late Mr. F.L. McNamara.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Carl Christopher Stacy of Columbia, Mo. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Hall of Sandersville, Ga. and Dr. and Mrs. Carl Stacy of Bartlesville, Okla.

Sarah was served by her maid of honor, Sarah Elizabeth Graviss of Missouri City, as well as bridesmaids Emily Brown of Austin, cousin of the bride; Brittney Ehlert of Dallas; Mrs. Emily Cornelius of Austin; Amy Niezgoda of Dallas and Mrs. Elizabeth Stacy of Stephenville, sister-in-law. The bridesmaids wore identical floor-length dresses of moss green silk shantung. They carried bouquets of white roses tied with silk ribbon.

Best man was Peter Nicholas Darrouzett of Carrollton, with groomsmen Charles Crane of Los Alamos, N.M.; Jason Jones of Dallas; Russell McKeown of Dallas, brother of the bride; Ryan Stacy of Lubbock, brother of the groom; and Joshua Stacy of Stephenville, brother of the groom.

Ushers were Blake Brown of Austin; Parker Brown of Kerrville; Tanner Brown of Kerrville; Sean McKeown of Midland; and Clifford Hall of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Sarah wore an elegant gown of candlelight silk shantung designed by Romona Keveza. The ballgown silhouette was fashioned with a strapless sweetheart neckline and an asymmetrically-draped bodice. The full skirt fell from a dropped waist to a graceful chapel-length train. Her veil, of heirloom Rose Point lace, has been worn traditionally in the bride’s family for over 80 years and was first worn by her great-grandmother, Mrs. Ralph R. Brown, in 1929. The lace panel was mounted over French silk illusion and held in place by a handmade headpiece of seed pearls and crystals. The veil cascaded beyond the chapel-length train.

The church was decorated with six wrought-iron candelabra trees entwined with Italian Ruscus, Huckleberry, Springeri and Magnolia. The altar featured a large, all white, arrangement of Casa Blanca lilies, hydrangea, tube roses, David Austin Roses, Majolica spray roses and Queen Anne’s lace. The aisle was appointed with nosegays of the bride’s chosen flowers and ivory silk shantung bows on standards of grapevine and southern smilax.

A pre-nuptial string concert was conducted by Scott Clinton, music director. Vocalist Kay Watkins sang “When Love is Found.”

The reception following the ceremony was held in the garden of the bride’s home.

The pathway to the reception was illuminated with lanterns decorated in swags of greenery and ivory silk bows. Crystal chandeliers hung from the trees in the back yard, as well as in the tents that housed the food and cake displays. The largest tent held the stage and dance floor where guests danced to the music of the band, Dance Street. Each guest table was decorated with different antique silver containers filled with Sahara and bridal roses, hypericum berries, antique hydrangea and David Austin roses, along with a variety of succulents, blush pears, green grapes and artichokes. The tables were covered in ivory cloths topped with sage organza overlays with leaf appliques.

The buffet tent held white sectional seating as well as guest tables and a large sculpture of shells, coral and sea fans which held a floral arrangement of Casablanca lilies, succulents, David Austin roses, grapes and hydrangea.  The tent was wreathed in garlands of southern smilax and ivory silk bows.

The bride’s five-tiered cake was decorated with handmade sugar magnolia blossoms cascading down and around the sides. The table was decorated with fresh magnolia leaves. The groom’s cake was a three-tiered chocolate sensation that was constructed for the top layer to explode upon lighting, which brought great delight to all of the attending guests.  The sweets table display was backlit with sheer panels. Antique Italian porcelain dove bowls filled with floating gardenias and underwater lighting provided the decoration. House party members were Allison Magness of Alexandria, Va.; Elizabeth Roman of Dallas; Blair Smith of Houston; Anne Stroube of Dallas; Devin Summitt of Dallas; and Ashley Watkins of Dallas.

Guests were present from New Mexico, Missouri, New York, Virginia, New Hampshire, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Texas.

Following a honeymoon in Costa Rica, the couple is at home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
