Emily Elizabeth Franks and John Wesley Turnage were united in holy matrimony on June 25, 2010. The double-ring ceremony was held at Royal Lane Baptist Church in Dallas and the Bride’s family pastor, Dr. Gary Johnson, officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mark and Danna Franks of Corsicana. The groom is the son of Cynthia Turnage and the late Wesley Turnage of Trinidad.
At the stroke of 8 o’clock in the evening, the bride walked down the center aisle sprinkled with rose petals to the traditional “Bridal Chorus.” The sanctuary was beautifully decorated with candles and vibrant floral décor in colors of amethyst, lavender, and fuchsia.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant white satin strapless A-line gown with a beaded embroidered metallic bodice and inverted V empire waistline. The dress had a stunning Cathedral length train which was also embroidered to match the bodice. She completed her bridal ensemble with a beautiful fingertip veil with beaded scalloped edges which gave the perfect finishing touch. Emily carried a gorgeous bouquet of lavender and white roses with pink edging, lavender hydrangea, purple tulips, dark purple lisianthus, and raspberry stock tied with a silver ribbon.
Serving as maid of honor was Nicole Seely of Dallas and the Matron of Honor was Laura Swilley of Italy — best friends of the bride. Bridesmaids were Ashley Albright of Dallas, Sarah McCreary of Kemp, and Lindsay Rosen of Houston. The Bridesmaids wore beautiful deep purple strapless chiffon and satin dresses and carried bouquets of lavender hydrangea and white roses with pink edging echoing the bride’s bouquet. Kathryn Carroll, cousin of the bride, of Temple, Texas, served as flower girl.
Serving as best man was Paul Lee, best friend of the groom, of Alvarado. The groomsmen were Blake Killingsworth of Duncanville, Eric Chi of Duncanville, Seth Phillips of Irving, and Jonathan Franks, brother of the bride, of Corsicana. The ushers were Kale Keck of Irving, and Kenny Brown of Dallas.
Following the wedding, a reception was held at Brookhaven Country Club. The tables were elegantly decorated with white linens, purple bows, candle center pieces, and rose petals. Guests were greeted with passed hors d’oeuvres, followed by a Mexican buffet and chocolate fountain.
The wedding cake was three tiers of offset squares with white cake and butter cream frosting, accented with amethyst ribbon and lavender hydrangea. It was topped with a beautiful cross symbolizing the couple’s faith and the love that brought them together. The groom’s cake was two tiers of offset squares with luscious chocolate cake and chocolate frosting, accented with chocolate covered strawberries and topped with a baseball symbolizing the groom’s favorite pastime.
Emily is a graduate of Texas A&M University and is employed with Guide Stone Financial Resources in Dallas. John is a graduate of Dallas Baptist University. He is serving in the Texas Army National Guard and is currently attending law school at Southern Methodist University.
After honeymooning in Maui, Hawaii, the couple is now making their home in Addison.
