Water began flowing from Richland Chambers Reservoir to Lake Halbert at 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Environmental Services Director Larry Murray said. Murray said between 2,500 and 3,000 gallons per minute is being carried between the two lakes.

“We will run it until the creek runs dry, probably three to four months,” Murray said.

If the current pumping holds true, nearly four million gallons of water can be pumped daily between the two bodies of water. Though not a permanent solution to the water woes in the area, Murray is nevertheless excited over the progress.

On Wednesday construction crews battled fierce heat before repairing a section of the line. Water was flowed through it late Wednesday before fully flowing on Thursday.
