Neal and Peggy Crawford recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They were wed on Jan. 25, 1946, at the North Corsicana Methodist Church in Corsicana. The couple met in school as children and grew to be childhood sweethearts. Neal served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 during World War II, and is a veteran of the D-Day Invasion while Peggy worked at Bethlehem Steel to help the war effort.
Neal is best known in the community for being the first State Farm Insurance Agent in town and worked in that business for more than 31 years while Peggy stayed home to raise two daughters. First born was Gayla (Kallus) in 1952, and then Carla (Testa) in 1964. During that time they remained very active in their church and well known throughout the community.
The Crawford’s are the proud grandparents of four grandchildren, Shawn Pringle, Charlie Pringle, Valerie Shumate, and Jamie Testa; as well as six great grandchildren.
Now retired, the couple enjoys eating lunch out together and visiting with their many friends.
After a private anniversary celebration with family, the Crawford’s continue to receive many well wishes from friends congratulating them on this milestone anniversary.
