The mounting information suggesting Hurricane Ike will deliver tropical storm strength winds near Navarro County has led to modified plans for the Corsicana Daily Sun.

Sunday’s print schedule has been accelerated, and its delivery could be delayed, Publisher Raymond Linex II said.

“We don’t want any of our employees out once the storm hits with all its fury around noon Saturday,” Linex said. “We will let the worst part of the storm pass before delivering Sunday’s paper, either Saturday evening or Sunday morning.”

Plans had been to deliver the paper Saturday afternoon, but no amount of plastic or rubber bands would keep papers dry if this storm is as powerful as forecasted, Linex said.

Production on Saturday’s paper continues on a schedule announced Thursday. It will be printed today, and delivered either tonight or with Sunday’s paper.

“We apologize for any inconvenience, but hopefully this is a very, very rare situation,“ Linex said.
