North Central Texas WorkForce’s Corsicana Center will host a job search workshop on “Resume Writing for Results” at 9 a.m. at its office, 720 N. Beaton St.



A book signing will be held at 4:30 p.m. by Dr. Tom Graves at First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St. Graves, a former pastor of the church, will be signing copies of his latest book, “From Sunday Conversations Sermons and Prayers for All Seasons.” Cost of the book will be $10. Also available will be copies of his previous books, “From My Perspective” and “From Marked Tree ... to Red ‘Arc.”

Dec. 3

Pursley Volunteer Fire Department, 9772 Farm-to-Market Road 709 South, will host a barbecue supper with all the trimmings beginning at 4 p.m. There will be a bounce house for the children, a cake walk and an auction. A raffle will be held from a 20-gauge shotgun. Tickets are available from any firemen or at the door. Cost of meals will be $6 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds will enable the fire department to purchase an automated external defibrillator.



American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., will be the host for the Cossack toy run. The legion will open at 10 a.m. The run will begin at the Lucky Lady Truck Stop, Interstate 45 and Farm-to-Market Road 1603, Rice. There will be a $10 per person or a toy and two canned goods. The toys will be given to an organization to be given to children at Christmas. The canned goods will be given to the Food Pantry. Dawson Junior High School will have its one-act play performance, “Happily Never After,” at 2:30 p.m. at the Dawson High School cafeteria.



Dec. 5

Corsicana Art League will meet at 6:30 p.m. at The Gaze Studio, 108 W. Sixth Ave., for a “Chinese Christmas.” Bring a fun, inexpensive artist gift such as a brush, tube of paint, canvas or even a small painting. Members are also reminded to bring any painting they wish to submit to committee for display and sale at Higher Grounds.

An AARP drivers safety program will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Senior Activity Center. Cost will be $10 per person, payable to AARP when you arrive for class. The class, taught by Jim Jones, will hold 35 people. This course does not remediate a traffic violation ticket. This course helps you with your insurance cost.
