Billy Harlan, Chief Administrative Officer for Corsicana Independent School District, was named the lone finalist for Academy ISD Superintendent.
Of Harlan’s 23 years in education, he has spent the last 16 years at Corsicana ISD. He has served as a coach, teacher, Executive Director of Extracurricular Programs, Executive Director of Human Resources and most recently, Chief Administrative Officer.
“Corsicana has been my home for most of my life. I will always be grateful for the friends and colleagues along the way,” Harlan said. “ I appreciate Dr. Frost and the CISD Board for providing leadership opportunities that have brought me to this point in my career. I will miss Corsicana and I look forward to new experiences as Lori and I go to Academy,” Harlan said.
The Academy ISD release stated that 60 superintendent applicants were narrowed to seven prospects. Three were invited back for a second interview. The Academy ISD Board unanimously voted Harlan as the lone finalist on Thursday.
“It became clear that Mr. Harlan embodies the traits and characteristics of the profile that was developed in collaboration with the district staff and community,” said Dr. Calvin Eshbaugh, board president at AISD.
“We believe that his enthusiasm, energy, and vision for our district are a perfect fit for Academy ISD.,” said,” said Dr. Diane Frost, superintendent at Corsicana ISD.
“Mr. Harlan’s leadership has had a significant impact at Corsicana ISD. We wish him all the best in his new role as Superintendent,” Frost said.
Academy ISD is located outside of Temple, in Little River Academy, Texas.
