NASHVILLE – A caregiver professional at Shepherd’s Touch Home Helpers in Corsicana has been recognized by the leading in-home care network as the National Caregiver of the Year for 2015.
Betty Bibb, a caregiver to several families in East Texas, was honored at the 2016 Home Helpers National Conference in Nashville. Home Helpers created the Exceptional Caregiver Awards to showcase some of the best in-home aides from across the United States. From more than 100 nominations received, eight caregivers were selected as finalists on the basis of their demonstrated compassion and dedication to serving others. Ms. Bibb was nominated for this recognition by her supervisors of her Corsicana Home Helpers office.
“I have some wonderful caregivers on staff,” said Mark Thommarson, owner of Home Helpers of Corsicana. “But Betty is someone who truly lives it every day.”
In fact, Mark had so much confidence in Betty that he called on her when it was time to choose an in-home caregiver for his own mother.
“Day in and day out, Betty exemplifies the highest standard of professional caregivers,” said Emma Dickison, president of Home Helpers Inc. “We’re pleased to recognize that service and very proud to have many people like her on our team.”
The Exceptional Caregiver of the Year Award is presented in April to one caregiver professional who best exemplifies Home Helpers mission to “be the extended family when the family can’t be there.” Finalists are selected to represent four national regions and more than 600 communities. Individuals are nominated by colleagues and the families the caregivers serve. The award was presented at the Home Helpers National Conference on April 19 in Nashville. Betty’s story and those of the seven other finalists are featured at
