First Baptist Church Hubbard, 501 N. Magnolia, Hubbard, will host The Steel Magnolias of San Marcos at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21. This will be a fully choreographed, upbeat concert of Southern Gospel Music. The Steel Magnolias are filled with “electric excitement” for the Lord. These ladies are the epitome of Christ-like grace and love. If you’ve never seen The Steel Magnolias, you won’t believe your eyes, and you will certainly be clapping your hands, snapping your fingers, stomping your feet, and maybe even let out a “whoop” now and then. It’s a program you won’t want to miss of some of the most recent gospel music being sung. Admission is free.
Grace Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, 402 East 14th Avenue, is pleased to welcome back its pastors, Rev. Michael and Joann Donaldson after the conclusion of the NWTX Annual Conference of the 10th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Sister Lula Williams was the delegate to the conference and she brought back information to the church congregation. On Tuesday night, Sept. 9, the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) hosted a “Night in White.” During this service the WMS recognized and installed the first set of Pearls. These women have worked in their local missionary societies for 25 years. Grace Temple is pleased to announce that Sister Maxine Kelly was installed as a Pearl at this service. Sister Maxine Wheeler was also honored that night as a Lifetime Member of the WMS. On Wednesday night, Sept. 10, the conference recognized the different congregants of the year. Brother Marshall Deeds was recognized as Grace Temple’s congregant of the year. Grace Temple is proud of its honorees and extremely glad to have their pastors back! Community Worship for the Blooming Grove Community will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. On Sept. 22 the service will be held at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church; Oct. 13, it will be held at Olive Grove Baptist Church. Oct. 27, it will be back at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church. Central Baptist Church will be the site for Nov. 10 service. No worship on Nov. 24, Happy Thanksgiving. Blooming Grove United Methodist Church will hold its Lord's Acre celebration on Sept. 20, 2014 at the Blooming Grove Methodist Church. The Country Store will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 3000 W. Hwy. 22, Corsicana, will hold its annual Chili Pepper Festival from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21. The Cowboy Church of Corsicana, 5864 W. Hwy. 31, invites the public to join us for worship services on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. Derek Rogers serves as Pastor. Frost United Methodist Church will hold its Annual Lord’s Acre Lunch and Auction beginning at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Frost School Cafeteria. Dresden United Methodist Church will hold its first Lord’s Acre Vendor Craft Fair and Flea Market on Oct. 4, 2014 benefiting the church. We plan to have bounce houses, carnival games, food, raffles, vendors, crafts and flea market booths at the all-day event. The event is being held on the church grounds, and the goal is to raise funds to build a fellowship hall onto the sanctuary. Northside Baptist Church offers Grief Share, a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close. Grief Share began a new 13-week study on Sept. 3, at 211 Forest Lane. Grief Share is non-denominational and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics.
