Dante Johnson, a Navarro College police officer, and Charles Dunnahoe with Hometown Medical Associates will be riding in the 6th Annual Texas Peace Officer Memorial Ride in support of all Texas C.O.P.S. chapters this May 2, 2020.
This annual event honors all fallen Texas peace officers and their families.
This is the fifth year for Johnson and this time he has recruited Charles Dunnahoe to participate in this two-day 150-mile ride from San Antonio to Austin.
Johnson is still looking for others to join! Johnson recalled the emotion that he felt as he was riding towards The Capital with the American Flag crossing the road hung from the fire department’s ladder truck.
Last year there were over 125 riders from all over the state. “We ride to San Marcos on Saturday and spend the night there. On Sunday we continue to Austin and arrive in time to attend the Texas Peace Officers candle light vigil ceremony,” Johnson said.
“This year we will be riding in remembrance of Brent Thompson, who was killed in the line of duty during the attacks on Dallas Police July 7, 2016,” Johnson said. “Our goal is to raise $5,000 so we are starting our fundraiser early this year.”
The riders will set up a lemonade stand from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 at Across the Street Diner to raise money benefitting C.O.P.S. Enjoy some cold, refreshing lemonade and cookies in support of a great cause.
