Rice ISD hosted a Feast Night for families of English as a Second Language students Nov. 20. The event was held in the newly opened Rice Elementary School cafeteria. Families brought food that represented their culture and music, along a backdrop with props for pictures, added to the festivities.
“One of Rice ISD’s goals is to celebrate the various cultures of our students, and this was an excellent way to involve our parents and families. We hope to make this a tradition that continues because the input that we received was so positive,” said Amy Harvell, interim superintendent.
The Rice ISD ESL population is made up of students whose families are from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.
