Parishioners from throughout the Diocese of Dallas were recently honored for their volunteer efforts at the Eighth Annual Bishop’s Award for Service Mass.
The Bishop’s Service Award recognizes the laymen and women whose volunteer efforts are so essential to the ministries in the 74 parishes in the Diocese of Dallas.
Two local parishioners, Miriam Alvarado and Rudy Garcia were awarded the special bronze medals by Father Marco Rangel during mass June 29 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In addition to his leadership and volunteer work at church Garcia serves as the Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Council No. 5211.
Alvarado is the religion teacher at James L. Collins Catholic School and volunteers in multiple capacities at church.
Deacon Lewis Palos and Dallas Seminarian Kevin Kolker were also present to congratulate the award recipients.
