One of the most popular events during Derrick Days is held prior to the day-long festival. The free hot dog lunch runs 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26 in the downtown Pocket Park on Beaton Street. The event is followed by a free hot dog dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. in the same location.

Carey Dean, from 106.9 The Ranch’s award-winning morning show, The Mornin’ Fiasco with Nash and Carey Dean, will be the master grill chef again this year. Long-time Derrick Days volunteer Andy Williams will be his side kick. Last year more than 1,200 hot dogs were grilled and served hot to residents and visitors. The event is free and open to the public.
Caleb Grant will provide musical entertainment during the lunch and Ryan Guidry during dinner.
Sponsors of the event include the Beaton Meat Market, Dr. Pepper, HEB, Super-1, Brookshire’s, Mild Bill’s Spice Co. and Guardian. The event is hosted by the Derrick Days Committee and the City of Corsicana Parks and Recreation Department.
The hot dog lunch and dinner provide another opportunity to buy a $25 raffle ticket for a chance to win a 2017 Camaro donated by Frank Kent Country. All proceeds go to the Corsicana Police Department. A drawing to determine the winner of the raffle is set for Saturday, April 29, on the Derrick Days Main Entertainment Stage at 4 p.m. The winner must be 21 years of age or older and does not need to be present to win.
Raffle tickets can be purchased until noon, Friday, April 28 at the following venues: Corsicana Visitor Center on South Beaton Street at 7th Avenue, O'Reilly Auto Parts on West 7th Avenue, CTWP-Corsicana on West 5th Avenue, H&R Block on West 7th Avenue, Sweet M’s on West Collin, Anna’s Café on West Third Avenue, and Black Jack’s Steak House, Napa Auto Parts, Trophies Unlimited and Across the Street Diner, all on North Beaton Street.
Raffle tickets will also be sold during Derrick Days on Saturday, April 29 until 3 p.m. at the Main Entertainment Stage and the Car Show.
