Corsicana HEB presented a check Friday for $36,419 to United Way of Navarro County, a nonprofit organization which raises funds for local charities that improve the quality of life for the people of our community.

“The genuine enthusiasm HEB Store Director Mike Fletcher has for others is both moving and motivating,” said Cara Wilson, United Way of Navarro County Executive Director. “He does an incredible job with HEB’s campaign. This year, HEB was our top campaign, and I cannot think of a more deserving group and company. Aside from being a the best grocery store in Navarro County, HEB is an incredible employer and contributor to Corsicana.”

Fletcher said the store’s partners are very proud to be associated with United Way.

“Approximately 95 percent of our store population has pledged to give this year,” he said. Since HEB's beginning in 1905, a large part of our business philosophy is giving back to the community. Our founder, Florence Butt, began this tradition by regularly assisting those in need with surplus from our first store in Kerrville.”

Fletcher said the company’s commitment and involvement in the community has always been important.

“The United Way campaign we run each year with our partners is a little different than most of our giving, as a company, as it is the one time a year where we ask our partners to assist us,” he said. “100 percent of the donations we have pledged this year comes directly from payroll deductions each week. I am very humbled to be associated with such a wonderful and generous group of people who demonstrate the HEB Spirit of Giving in such a powerful way year after year.”
