Dorothy Raley, Lead Consultant with Family Connections STAR, opened the presentation to a roomful of service agency providers during a recent meeting of the Navarro County Service Agency Network.

“There is a STAR program in every Texas county,” Raley stated, “and the mission of Family Connections is to strengthen youth and families through prevention/intervention services, advocacy and collaboration.”

“We work with the entire family, and our services are provided to at-risk youth and their families in Navarro and Ellis Counties. Services are free and are provided by funds through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.” Raley further stated that, “we work with families by referral, and referrals may be made by anyone.”

Raley explained that Family Connection’s services include crisis intervention, skills based training to youth, parenting groups and family counseling. She further stated that the program has served over 1,000 people in Navarro County.
