Child Advocates of Navarro County needs volunteers who have one to two hours a week (or month) to help children. There are a variety of projects that demand your attention. Mothers Against Methamphetamine is a national organization with educational literature and resources to fight methamphetamine in the community. Come be a part of the local chapter. Meetings are held at 6 p.m. the first Monday of each month at Northside Baptist Church Fellowship Center, 222 Forrest Lane. Prayer, support and encouragement will be offered to families struggling with a meth addicted loved one.



Navarro County Farmers Market, located in the Farmers Market pavilion at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Business 45, next to the Daily Sun, will be open each Tuesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. until sold out. Corsicana Education Foundation is seeking class rosters and addresses for several graduation classes for Corsicana High School and Jackson High School as the foundation establishes a Corsicana alumni directory. Rosters and most recent addresses of graduates are needed for the following years: 1945, 1948, 1950 to 1959, 1967, 1974 and 1995. Most recent addresses of graduates are needed for the following years (rosters have already been secured): 1975 to 1978, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1986 to 1992, 1994, 1996 to 2003. The Area Agency on Aging of North Central Texas, Ombudsman Program, needs volunteers interested in advocating for residents in nursing facilities in Navarro County. No previous experience is required, 36 hours of training is provided, it takes only two to three hours per week and the hours are flexible. Ombudsmen (advocates) investigate and work to resolve complaints for or on behalf of the resident and work to educate residents and their families on residents’ rights. MLK Center board conducts a senior citizen program from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every first and third Tuesday of the month. Senior citizens are invited to come and be a part.
