Is Corsicana above the state average for underage drinking and drug abuse? Or are these types of problems only associate with the big city? These questions and more will be answered Monday in a comprehensive town hall meeting put on by the Corsicana Independent School District and IMPACT Corsicana.

In the town hall, there will be seven experts in substance abuse, ranging from ministers to counselors to law officials. All will present the public with a thorough look at the problem here locally.

IMPACT Coalition Coordinator Alvis Reeves and CISD’s Andrea Boruk have been spearheading the campaign and this event will be the kickoff of the Those Who Host Lose the Most drive.

The first 120 people to register and attend this event will receive a free dinner, compliments of the town hall staff. The event itself will begin at 6 p.m. Monday at the Corsicana Public Library.

Emcee of the event will be Corsicana Police Chief G.M. Cox.

Reeves said he hopes the majority of the city will attend and also noted that the speakers represent the general community.

Slated to speak are Cox, Corsicana Police Capt. Ken Kirkwood, Justice of the Peace Kirby Hill, Navarro College Minister Dairy Johnson, Barbara Abbe, Corsicana Fire Capt. Ron Franks, CISD student Lacey Rash and Navarro Regional Hospital’s Dr. Ron Rodriguez.
