Jan. 17

An open house will be held through 4 p.m. at Lago de Plata Apartments, 1600 E. 13th Ave., Apt. 172., through the Neighborhood Network Learning Center. Come see what your community is offering in the way of educational programs. City officials as well as professionals from Navarro College will be available to inform you of what services they can provide. Hot dogs and refreshments will be served.



Jan. 18

North Central Texas WorkForce’s Corsicana Center will host a “Workshop Center Orientation” at 10 a.m. and a job search workshop on “Interview Tips” at 10 a.m. at its office, 720 N. Beaton St. “Basic PC skills” training will be offered at 5:30 p.m. at the center, but seating is limited and you must pre-register for this training. For more information, call (903) 874-8276.

Jan. 18-May 3

Nurturing Program, for parents with children ages 5 to 11, will be free of charge from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays Jan. 18 through May 3 at Bank of America, 100 N. Main St., Suite 308, Corsicana. Jan. 19

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3366, located at Veterans Drive off West State Highway 31, will have Pure Country Karaoke with John Tilley from 8 p.m. to midnight. The VFW Post canteen will open at 4 p.m. For more information, call after 4 p.m. to (903) 872-3811.



Jan. 20

“Alzheimer’s Caregiver Class” will be held at Navarro Regional Hospital. This specially designed class will provide caregivers with information, guidance and training to assist them in caring for a person with Alzheimer’s disease. Classes are free for family members of people with Alzheimer’s. For professional caregivers, a fee of $20 is required. Topics covered will be overview of Alzheimer’s disease, meeting daily challenges, communication, safety, managing difficult behavior, and caring for the caregiver. To register, call (800) 272-3900. Jan. 22

Blooming Grove High School will host a blood drive with Carter BloodCare at the high school from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors will receive a T-shirt and everyone who registers to give blood will be entered into a a drawing for a $100 gas gift card or a grand prize of one year of free gas. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health. Unique Parents of Unique Children, a support group for parents, families and caregivers of children with special needs, will meet at 6 p.m. at Carroll Early Childhood Center, 1101 E. 13th Ave. This month’s meeting will feature services available through Lakes Regional MHMR, and the waiting lists your child needs to be on.
