Attendance and academic progress requirements approved

The board approved on first reading revisions to the college policy manual establishing minimum attendance and grade point average requirements for students that reside in college housing. The policy had been proposed by college president Dr. Richard Sanchez.



Online instruction guidelines reviewed

The first reading of a policy for online instruction and procedures was reviewed by trustees. The board will vote on the policy in August.



Emeritus status policy approved

Trustees approved an addition to the college policy manual officially establishing Emeritus status. The board then approved a request to grant Emeritus status to Dr. Lary Reed, Executive Vice-president, who is retiring from Navarro College after a 46 year career.



Phillips appointed to retirement committee

Jan Phillips was appointed by trustees as a member of the Navarro College Employee Retirement Committee. The vacancy on the committee is being created by the retirement of Dr. Lary Reed.



Interest in open coaching position high

Dr. Richard Sanchez told trustees that a number of inquiries have been received regarding the head baseball coaching position vacated when Skip Johnson accepted a post at the University of Texas. Athletic Director Roark Montgomery and assistant coach Whoa Dill will field coaching duties until a new head coach is selected.
