Dust off your boots and make reservations for “The Great Dinner,” the annual fundraiser for the Palace Theatre Nov. 2. It will have cowboys yelling “Yee Haw” with a real chuck wagon dinner and a brand new Texas singer songwriter on the microphone.

Over the last few years the Palace Theatre has presented dinners to the community, which have featured some of the top names in the culinary world, one of which was the legendary Dean Fearing. This year the Palace has chosen Perini’s Ranch of Buffalo Gap Texas to bring a real feast to the people of Corsicana on Nov. 2nd.

Perini’s Ranch is known nation wide for their Texas flavor. Perini’s has been featured on many famous magazines such as Texas Monthly and Southern Living. Perini’s was also ranked as one of the Top 20 Steakhouses by Cowboys and Indian and featured on the cover of Texas Highways in June 1997. In addition to these accolades, Perini’s Ranch is continually chosen by President George W. Bush’s choice for steaks. Perini’s Ranch has graced the lawn of the White House on several occasions.

The real chuck wagon will feature Perini’s Prime Rib, new potatoes with green beans and, of course, Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Bread Pudding. The atmosphere will be casual and festive outside the home of Dr. and Mrs. Bob Kingman on Country Club Road.

This year the Palace has chosen to entertain the crowd with a hot new country artist, Matt Koger.

Koger has had a passion for songwriting. For the past several years Koger has been evolving from a hobbyist to a serious songwriter. Drawing on people he’s met, stories he's heard and experiences he's had, Koger has crafted authentic windows into Americana.

As a husband and father of four, he sought a musical influence for his children, first teaching himself guitar and later finding his way as a songwriter. By day, he's a full-time physician in rural northeast Texas. Having a background vocation has allowed him to pursue music for its joy rather than for monetary rewards. An award-winning songwriter, Koger has played for publishers in Texas and Nashville. Koger’s first CD, Blackland is making a big splash for the critics.

“This album is all about storytelling and Matt Koger is one of the best. Songwriters who can take an observation and turn it into song are a treasure,” Lucky Boyd, the co-founder of www.mytexasmusic.com said. “Koger has found song in observations inspired by life, betrayal, religion, family, unproved speculation and current events.”

There is no way better to spend a Thursday night than under the stars, with a real Texas chuck wagon, listening to great music and more importantly raising funds for the Palace. Since its complete renovation and restoration the Palace has been wowing crowds with presenting high quality, performing arts right here in downtown Corsicana. If you are excited that you can see Ronnie Milsap, The Oak Ridge Boys or the Temptations here in town, then your support of the Palace is crucial.

Put on your boots and join the chuck wagon while supporting the Palace Theatre. Tickets are $125 for dinner, libations and entertainment. Make reservations to attend the annual fundraiser for the Palace Theatre on Nov 2nd.
