The Navarro College Student Life will host Leslie Wagner-Wilson, a Jonestown survivor, from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Cook Education Center, located at 3100 W. Collins in Corsicana. Admission is free and open to the public.
At the age of 22, Wilson escaped certain death when she fled with her 3-year-old son, Jakari into a Guyana forest to escape from the infamous cult leader, Jim Jones.
On Nov. 18, 1978, 918 people, including 276 children, were forced to drink cyanide-laced Flavor Aid by Jim Jones, hours before Leslie escaped.
Prior to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Jonestown massacre was the single largest loss of United States civilian lives in a non-natural disaster.
Wilson, who lost six of her family members in Jonestown, will share her story with the community.
