Chuck and the Guiding Clouds is a group that has been performing gospel music for Praise in the Park for the last decade. The group also visits Sixth Avenue Baptist Church once in a while at the invitation of Bishop K.D. Davis, Sr.

The band consists of Floyd “Chuck” Bryant, David Earls, Joe Bailey, Anthony Clayton, Benny Bryant and Bubba the drummer.

“It’s a Juneteenth celebration and they turned it into Praise in the Park,” Bryant said. “It brings the people together. It’s not about us, it’s about God.”

Bryant and the Clouds have been traveling all across the United States in their big bus since 1974, singing and praising God’s name.

“We’ve had some members pass on and I had a stroke in 2011,” he said. “But the Lord blessed me to get back up and I think I’m better than I was before.”

Following the Praise in the Park, there will be a fundraiser Juneteenth Dance at the MLK Center sponsored by the Jackson Ex-Student Association.

Founder of the event Cathy Douglas encourages all to come and celebrate Texas history and to worship the Lord.

Souls Lest I Die Father Campaign 2019

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matt 28:19, 20

God has given the church a direct mandate to fulfill the needs of a “last day” generation. Dr. Talben T. Pope and his Evangelistic Team has accepted and will fulfill that mandate with the announcement of “Father Campaign 2019 Souls Lest I Die” Campaign Kick Off June 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. Bunert Park 201 MLK Blvd., Corsicana. This campaign has no party affiliation, yet stands on the platform of lifting a moralistic torch that will light the path for America to return as a symbol of strength and unity.

We have recognized that unless our communities are able to return to its original fabric our nation, our people, and our families will continue to stand divided and our nation will not be the symbol of hope that so many have sought for generations.

There are only two candidates in this race: the church and the force of immorality that has come to destroy us economically, mentally, and physically. The church stands on a platform of rebuilding lives and restoring communities by addressing the holistic needs of mankind-food, shelter, training and employment. Our goal is to target 1000 souls for Christ. As we prepare these souls to serve the Body of Christ, we also plan to prepare them to become productive citizens committed to rebuilding our community, our state, and our nation.
